Custom orders (including dyeing or overdyeing your own fibre or yarn) are always welcomed! Just email me with what you have in mind.

Yarn Trek 2: The Skein Of Khan

“Once a guy starts wearing silk pajamas it’s hard to get up early.” – Eddie Arcaro

“Notice that the stiffest tree is most easily cracked, while the bamboo or willow survives by bending with the wind.” – Bruce Lee

“Smiles, everyone… smiles!” – Mr. Roarke, Fantasy Island

Okay, so the last quote wasn’t about merino, but Ricardo Montalban’s (Mr. Roarke) real name is Ricardo Gonzalo Pedro Montalbán y Merino, so close enough…

Anyhoo, here’s this week’s newbies: A smashing Sock blend of 60% Merino, 15% Silk and 15% Bamboo, jus’ itchin’ to be knitted! Each skein is 396 yds, 100g, takes US 0 – 2 needles, and is a paltry $25!

A Wicked Extraordinary Hybrid – definitely not Da Plain! Da Plain!

Merino Sale!

This merino is lovely, but just not moving.  We want to encourage you to try it, so we’re putting it on sale this week.  It comes in 3 weights:  DK, Aran and 2 Ply (sport).  We think it’s a great outerwear option.  Hardy, but with a merino-like softness as well.  It’s also our only feltable yarn.  I keep imagining the French Press Felted Slippers knit up in this yarn.

So here you go!  As always, email us with your order and we’ll send you a PayPal invoice:  indigodragonfly.K AT gmail.com (Of course you can email us with any questions you have as well!)

The Tequila of Yarn

Since knitters don’t imbibe in the Devil’s Lemonade, let me explain…

Tequila = Liquid Anaesthetic + Worm.

Today’s New Yarn = 80% Merino + 20% Silk.

Each skein is 1000 yards, or over half a mile long.

Now if the temptation of knittin’ with that don’t make ya wanna take up drinkin’, well, pardner, nothing will!

The All-New Merino/Silk-quel. The Tequila Of Yarn. Enough to make a buddhist monk fall off the wagon. Or Ox-cart. Or Level of Bodhi. Or whatever…

Now here’s the 100% Proof…

And the Winners are…

It’s Thursday.  I promised you winners on Thursday, didn’t I?  😉

Meet Celebrity Judge #1:
DSC_0002

Scaredy Squirrel drew the 28 semi-finalists, which were then put in groups of four in project bags.

At which point, Celebrity Judge #2:
Otis approved

Otis P Wheaton (rav link) stepped in to narrow it down to the Final Four.

excuse the quality of our filming…the combination of using cell phone technology and hysterical laughter do not make for Oscar-winning cinematography 😉

And then chose the winners of each prize.

Prize #1:  The last remaining Smart-Ass Knitters/World Domination package goes to…

Prize #2:  The cable mug by Susanne James and a skein of silk lace or merino sock goes to…

Prize #3:  The Darby Bayly project bag, 1 skein of MCN Sport and the Storm Water pattern goes to…

And finally, Prize #4: the Little Swift (compliments of Tom Bihn…thank you again!) and 5 skeins of Indigodragonfly yarn goes to…

Thank you everyone who entered.  It’s been a fun few weeks reading your comments and your answers to our nutty questions.

If you’ve won a prize, we will be contacting you by email shortly.

And now Otis will slump into a Milk Bone coma…

Have You Ever…

…heard a song lyric wrong?  Really, really wrong?  Happens to me all the time.

Like:

Gave me a bite of a sandwich instead of Gave me a vegemite sandwich (I Come From a Land Down Under)

So today’s quiz item is this:  Tell us your favourite mixed up…or simply WRONG, song lyric.

(Pssttt…one more day of these…we’ll announce the winners on Thursday!)

Anniversary Contest details:

If you’ve arrived here for the first time and have no clue why we’re asking these crazy questions, you should know that we’re running an Anniversary Contest!

The Anniversary Contest runs until August 4, at which point we will have a very unique drawing for the prizes. There are four prizes available:

1. The last remaining first Smart-Ass Knitters/World Domination Club package

2. A cable mug by Susanne James and a skein of either silk lace or merino sock yarn(your choice of in stock colours)

3.  A Darby Bayly project bag chosen by Otis, a skein of MCN Sport (in your choice of in stock colours) and a Storm Water Cowl pattern.

4.  A Tom Bihn Little Swift and 5 skeins of your choice of Indigodragonfly Yarn.  (Thanks Darcy, Tom and crew!)

So how do you enter?

Lots of ways.

1. Leave us a comment, and you get an entry (1 comment per day per person)

2. If you were the very, very first customer, you get an entry. (I know who you are, you don’t have to. )

3. Answer weird quiz questions. They will be random, both in their timing and their content. We will give entries to the first 1-5 correct answers (depending on how we feel that day…we’ll give you fair warning), either in the comments or by email. (If you leave them in the comments, quiz answers count as an entry in addition to your comment entry…are you confused yet? Good. We like you that way.)

4. Buy stuff. Heck, why not? For every $25 purchased, you get an entry.

OK…..GO!

Great input! Now Tell Us More…

Thanks to everyone who commented on the last post, telling us what your dream knitting bag would be like.  Keep the comments coming, if you have more to add!

You mentioned so many great features…now we’d like you to help us narrow it down a little.  So today’s question is all about that.

I think we can all agree that velcro shouldn’t be allowed anywhere NEAR our knitting. Excluding velco, what are your top 3 dealbreakers when it comes to bag features? Things that it absolutely must have or must not have, before you’ll even consider it.

We’ll leave this one up for a couple of days.
