Dear Yarn Supplier:
Where is my yarn? I have colour waiting to happen.
Love Me.
Dear Yarn Supplier:
Where is my yarn? I have colour waiting to happen.
Love Me.
Truly a wonderful Rhinebeck year…good friends…good yarn and fibre…treats for everyone…
First of all, we spent the entire week before Rhinebeck making these little sample tags:
…however the person formerly known as “the Boy”, who now wishes to be referred to as the Squirrel Whisperer (I predict this will change very soon after he realizes there are no squirrels here), quickly came to the conclusion that knitters cannot live by yarn alone and would need TREATS! Hence: treat bags to hand out at Rhinebeck!
(notice the Smarties…we tried to go for as much Can con as possible: Coffee Crisp, Crispy Crunch, Smarties…)
Thank you to my “street team” (I feel so young and hip…) Stephannie, Elizabeth, Angela, Melanie, Sue, Molly, Emily and especially Keri, (who gets extra credit for wearing a freshly made-with-indigodragonfly-mcn sport cardigan, making her the most perfect billboard) who spread the treat bags far and wide. I think this street team thing is going to expand very, very soon…

If you’re interested in purchasing any of my yarn and/or roving, please send me an email at indigodragonfly.K AT gmail.com (replace AT with “@”, no spaces) indicating what you would like. First email request for each yarn/fibre secures it. I will send you a paypal invoice for the full amount plus shipping and ship the packages off as soon as possible! Shipping charges to the US will start at $5 (1 skein of sock yarn) or $7 (1-2 batches of most rovings/1 -2 skeins of larger skeins of yarn). Canada Post doesn’t make shipping charges for Canadian or International packages easy, so I will send you a shipping quote for your order for your approval. I will send you quotes for both surface and air mail shipping…just tell me which one you’d prefer. Sound good?
Best attempts are made to photograph colours accurately, however colours do differ from monitor to monitor (I’ve checked). I’ve also described the colours…and hope that helps. Custom orders are always welcomed! Just email me with what you have in mind.
When taking photos of your newly completed sweater, here are a few easy tips to follow:
1. Your arms will never be long enough.
2. It’s helpful to stand in FRONT of the camera
3. After almost 3 straight weeks of rain, you may forget how to take photos in sunlight.
Of course, you may just want to refer to this as your “ethereal period.”
4. Take another step to the left. Trust me.
5. Eventually, the law of averages will work in your favour.
Pattern: Cormorant by Norah Gaughan (Norah Gaughan Collection Volume 5)
Yarn: Indigodragonfly MCN Worsted – Cliffs of Insanity
No big secret that I LOVE Norah Gaughan. Her designs wake up every creative brain cell I have. And so when I saw Cormorant [rav link], I knew I needed to dye some yarn to make it. Luckily the MCN (merino/cashmere/nylon) base comes in a variety of weights, so I was able to replicate the balance of Ultra Alpaca and Ultra Alpaca Fine with MCN Worsted and MCN Sock.
I’ve almost finished the Worsted section of the sweater:
Colourway: Cliffs of Insanity (or, if you’re Patrick, “Just Some Really Pretty Cliffs in Ireland…Nothing at all to do with Kim’s State of Mind”)
And I have to tell you…the SQUOOSH factor of this yarn is outstanding! I stop every second row (or stitch…just saying) to squeeze it.
One more sleeve to go…and then onto the edging…
Welcome to the first update from Indigodragonfly in the NORTH! (There are actual dragonflies following me all over our property…appropriate, don’t you think?)

Next Update
Well we made it! Despite lost movers, a very confused dog and total exhaustion, we got ourselves moved in last Thursday.
Due to a comedy of Internet errors (my macbook’s in Toronto and the IT guy that works on our work computers has done something to the work laptop), I’ll be blogging from my iPhone for a while. Apologies in advance for formating issues.
Here are a few pictures of the new place. Because of the limits of the wordpress app, all photos will appear at the bottom of this post.
1 & 2. The house
3. The car: Squeals McOil (R would like you all to know that yes, Squeals WAS named for the Squeals When Boiled colourway)
4 & 5. Otis trying to find the perfect “spot”
6. Otis level windows (it’s not home till there’s yarn on the coffee table)
7. And a window seat (which I’ve always wanted)
8. Which doubles as yarn storage! (cedar-lined!!!)
9. We’ll just ignore the fact that it’s next to the dryer (which is also in the bedroom…which is also a porch. Did I mention it’s a very strange house?)
