Club Package #3

One of the things I love about the Smart-Ass Knitters/World Domination Club is the relationships I’m forming with each of the designers.  Though to be honest, the relationship with THIS particular designer and how it relates to the October package started long before you people bullied me into starting this whole club thing.

When one of your oldest friends suggests you read a book, you generally trust her.  Especially when she generally has very good taste…and tastes that run parallel to your own.  Let me just say this:  the Twilight books defy this logic.  My friend Carol told me I’d love them…and really I just wanted to throw them across the room.  But there is this peer pressure thing in the universe, and it seems that there are MANY people out there around my age who LOVE these books.

And then Glenna and I went out for lunch one day, and both came out as anti-Twilighters.  We were not alone in wanting to throw them across the room.

Even better:  we both agreed that Buffy the Vampire Slayer is a MUCH better, much smarter, much more sarcastic and funny option for those in need of a creatures-of-the-darkness fix.

So when I was chosing designers for the Smart-Ass Knitters Club, Glenna was an obvious choice for many reasons.  Not the least of which was the fact I was able to immediately contact her and ask her if she’d have any interest in designing a pattern based on this theme:  And Then Buffy Staked Edward.  The End. Heh.

And so there you have it.

The pattern:  Staked.

With little hearts being staked.  And little lines of stakes.  And when you put your feet together…

STAKE!  (this kills me.  Every. Time.)

Glenna talks more about her design here.

The colourway:  Dark and gloomy and smokey.  With a touch of brightness underneath.  Dark, turquoisey blue with clouds of dark plum, washed over in charcoal grey.

The swag:

I had all kinds of other plans for the swag…plans that were immediately put aside when I discovered that these fit into the budget.  Several months ago, I read about this. Which prompted me to try the Darn Pretty circular needles.  And I fell in love. Part of what I wanted to do with this Club is to promote other artisans and the beautiful work that they do.  And crazy Tom agreed to get a whole whack of needles out to me within a couple of weeks.

So, you got gloomy vampire slayer socks…and a full set of “stakes”, just in case that first career you have going doesn’t work out…

  1. Most awesome thing ever! I think this may be the only knitting club package that I’ve ever regretted not having. Ever. I’m kinda picky about my knitting. 😛 But yeah, you rock. 🙂
